About

Founded in Duluth, Georgia, in 2017, Kim's K Taekwondo is a nationally recognized martial arts academy dedicated to excellence in Taekwondo training. We welcome students ages 4 and up and provide a supportive environment where they build confidence, discipline, respect, and strong character — whether they are learning Taekwondo for the very first time or training for the world stage.

Our academy is led by Master Sungjin Kim, an 8th Dan Kukkiwon master and Elite Poomsae Coach who was recently nominated as the Best Poomsae Coach in North America. Master Kim holds a Master's degree in Sports Management and a Bachelor's degree in Taekwondo from Kyung Hee University in South Korea, and is a certified national referee in both South Korea and the United States.

Under his guidance, our students have reached the podium at the most prestigious events in the world — the World Poomsae Championships, the FISU World University Games, the U.S. Open, the Canada Open, the Presidents' Cup, and the Pan-American Games. Every single year, Kim's K athletes qualify for the USA National Poomsae Team as members of TEAM K.

But excellence here is not only measured in medals. We believe Taekwondo is a powerful tool for character building and community impact — from specialized instruction for students at Collins Hill High School and Duluth High School, to demonstration teams at local events and cultural festivals. From a student's first white belt to an Olympic dream, every member of the Kim's K family is guided with respect, discipline, and the pursuit of excellence.
